So Grits equal traffic

It appears that I seem to get a lot of traffic on here from google searches on My Cousin Vinny and the General Putnam Hotel.  I wrote a while back [Sad Finding] that I had noticed the old General Putnam Hotel Restaurant was shut down.  This was, from what I have always understood, the location where they shot the diner scene and where Vinny asked what a grit was.  I have always loved that shot and wanted to eat at that diner some day.  However, I always passed by, but never stopped.  Well one day while passing by, I noticed the restaurant was shut down.  I seem to get  a lot of traffic from that post of people looking up information on the General Putnam Hotel and Restaurant on Google.  I am sure this post will only add to this.  To my knowledge, this month when I passed by the restaurant it was still shut down.  So this apparent Hollywood landmark is still mothballed, but if you ever want to know where it is, then just travel down US 441 in Putnam County Georgia.  If it re-opens I will be glad to post the update.  If you are wondering it is just a few miles away from a camp where Little Darlings filmed some scenes.  Kind of the movie filming belt of Georgia.

Wow the strike is over?

Ok so thankfully the WGA strike is over.  Wow I thought that was going to last a long time.  I am mostly glad that LOST will be finishing up a semi complete season.  LOST is now (on my favorite list) the best TV show on the current line-up this season.  [I was let down by 24 last season]  I like the whole new plot lines and the drama, it is gripping and fun to watch.  The whole castaways vs the others vs the boat people is very well scripted and interesting.  I used to get bored with LOST in the middle episodes but season three started a change and well season four is definitely better.  I do have some random questions for the show that I would like to see addressed before it completes in the 2009-2010 season.

1) What happened to Walt and Michael, they were suppose to be saved, and well since pushing the show to current date and time in flash forwards, we could see Walt without any age continuity.  They were assured if they kept on a  bearing they would be saved, so where are they?  I think this was a write off so the Walt age deal was not a problem, but don't forget about them.

2) Where are the Others at?  Season three showed Locke and Ben with them, but they have not been back since Locke and Ben visited Jacob.  We have just seen the castaways (Team Locke and Team Jack) but no others, except maybe Rousseau, her daughter Alex and Karl.

3) What was Jack's dad doing in Jacob's Cabin?

4) What is the volcano ash line on the island all about?

5) Is Jacob, Walt ghost (for Locke), Charlie ghost (for Hugo) the same island spirit?

6) Who is Rousseau really, and what was her team, where is the shipwrecked boat, why is her french so off-her accent more central European, why does her 1988 wreck onto the island not correlate to Mikhail's 1993 arrival at the time of the purge, how did she not see the others but Ben has her daughter, how if she did not see the others did she know Ben was an other, and generally who is she?  We know all about Juliet, Ben, and Desmond, but she remains the only central character of precrash island resident we know nothing about.

Ok that is 6 questions for now.  I am sure they will be answered by the show as time goes on.  Those are just things that are sort of in the background now with all the how is Aaron with Kate, how Ben got off the island, and where is Ben's money from questions they have posed now.  LOST is just too good of a show.

So I changed my mind

Ok so I have changed my mind.  I had finally decided to take this blog down, I got out of the game and well blogging really was not interesting me any more.  However, I decided to change direction.  I have decided to revive the blog.  I have cleaned out the trash (aka old posts) that I felt were stupid or just not needed anymore.

I got out of the game because, well, I was just not interested.  It was not cool and I did not have original content.  So I decide to hang it up.  I left this thing up for my fans (still no one on the sign-up sheet) to read.

I decided a few days ago to revive the blog and now I am back in the game.  I have matured some and gone through a lot of life experiences in the almost a year and a half I have been absent.  I took out the trash, as I felt most of my old posts were stupid and lack the quality I am going for on here.  If you never read the old posts well oh well you get to miss out, I am sure they still exist somewhere saved on one of the Google server farms (tracking my life), but not on here for you to read.  I left those posts I feel are the top and deserved to stay, and now it is back to pointing out the random stupidness I see fit to write about plus my love for entertainment.  In ways this new version will be the same, but it will also be very different.

So get ready cause round three of blogging starts now, and if precedent holds up it will last all of like 5 posts, so don't blink you might miss it.

May I suggest....

I am a big fan of Country Music, yes I like vary genres of music, but I really enjoy country music. I will be the first to say there is some stuff out there in country, that is not the greatest, but overall it has vocal quality, lyrical quality and taste. However, after my long wait, an artist that I know has released her demo album, and the songs are by far well above the average country music today. I completely love the album, she did an amazing job. So if you want to listen to quality country music, check out Brandi Thornton, you will be glad you took the second to. If you get the album, I suggest Strength of a Heart, it is my favorite song.

On Dash, On Dancer, On Prancer, On Hemi?

Ok so I was going to town, tired of eating left over turkey and my Parents and I went to dinner. Well as we were stopped at a traffic light this white truck pulled up, and low and behold Santa Claus was driving it. Now it was oddly funny, he was driving a single cab white truck, and he had no reindeer. To no avail, he never looked over to see me wave. I was trying to be nice, I consider myself top of the good list, and I would never make Santa Claus mad, well honestly I was so laughing inside.

Anyways as the light turned green, my dad decided to see how fast off the line Santa could go, and well not very fast. My dad recently got a new Dodge 1500 with a Hemi, and well Santa had a 1500 without a Hemi and we burnt old Saint Nic in a trail of our dust. However, it was not only once, but twice in consecutive lights. Well when it comes down to it, if Santa is going to drive a truck, get a Hemi, other wise stick to 9 reindeer.

Thanksgiving, oh the spirit of Eating

Thanksgiving has come and gone. I once again ate my allotment of turkey for the year. Wow a lot of turkey on t-day, and left over turkey for Friday. I am 100% tired of turkey for the time being. Yeah once again stuffed, but it was fun.

I still am not sure about the whole shopping adventure though. Yeah I know black Friday equals major deals for customers, and yours truly went at 5:00 A.M. to Best Buy. Call it crazy, call it just plan out dumb, I know I lost it yesterday, but I got up before the Rooster does to wake the sun, and did some bargain shopping for electronics. Got a few sweet deals from Best Buy, but I was not going to go at 3:00 Thanksgiving day to get in line for a ticket. I did not get one of the tickets, Yeah I felt like I lost out on the trip to Wonka's Factory, but I still got some cool deals. Then of course fought the crowds elsewhere, shopped some more, and then came home. All in all I got really cool deals, got some Christmas shopping done early, and in all it might have been worth it, but the train wreck I felt when I woke up the next day was not.

TV Show update

Ok first off let me start by saying, I am rather sad Stargate SG1 got canned this summer. The show was finally starting to come into its on with the new cast, oh well.

I am glad that BSG is finally back on. I agree it is the best show on TV right now. The season opener, wow, what a suspense ride. I am glad though that the show is getting back to the flee for their life scenery. Oh and the way the Pegasus story was handled, A+, they gave it a great ending.

So I know my faithful readers (wow no one is in line at the water fountain) know I like a few shows on TV, however, I have become worse this season, I think my friends, hut hum Brandon, have had an impact on me. So I figured I would run down the list of the new shows I am watching.

1) Shark, great law drama
2) Heroes, ok please save the cheerleader
3) The Class, best comedy on TV, I might get some disagreement there, but I think it is
4) Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, ok so it might get canned
5) Friday Night Lights
6) Eureka

...And there still is:
1) 24
2) Boston Legal
3) LOST
4) The Unit
5) SNL
6) Stargate SG1
7) Stargate Atlantis
8) Ghost Hunters

So yeah my TiVo fills up fastly. I feel like I am now part of that TV fanactic realm.

Who to sit down and talk to

So a friend and I played the whole game of who would you cast to star in a biographical show about yourself, and I got thinking who would play the people in my life's story and except for my dad and a few other people, I do not have that planned out, but it made me start thinking though who would be the top ten celebrities that I would want to meet, so I decided to make a top ten list. This is list in sort of order 1-10, but not fully in a valued order.

1) Jimmy Buffett
2) Reba McEntire
3) Kiefer Sutherland
4) Reiko Aylesworth
5) Larry Munson- Voice on the Georgia Bulldawgs
6) Toby Keith
7) Dennis Haysbert
8) Dolly Parton
9) William Shatner
10) Bill Engvall, um I like to point out Stupidity here on this blog, it has been a while but I do, and who else to meet than the king of stupid observation Mr. Bill Engvall

There are a ton of other celebrities I would love to meet, but I tried to make a list of 10, I am sure these probably will change (probably in order, except the top two), but these will remain people I would love to meet. Maybe one day I will accomplish meeting them, probably not, but you never know.

This might be my best April Fools joke yet

Ok so last night as midnight was nearing I decided to have a little fun and run a little April fools joke on some friends, and one friend took the joke hook, line and sinker. She believed what I would think was a pretty out there claim. I am attaching an edited (she kind of got highly mad at me and told me a few things not fit for here) copy of the transcript from my great joke. This was on instant messenger, I edited the user names out so that identity is not revealed, and so as you read it remember she is believing this fake story. What makes it all the more humorous is that another friend was on the phone with my friend Ashley and she was telling her this all as well, and Stacy, my other, friend believed it too. Stacy said this might be the best April fools joke she has heard in a while, and if I do say so I think it is maybe my best yet. So here is the transcript, but before you read, I am not condoning violence here, and I think this is not appropriate and I would never do this, it is a totally false story made up for an April Fools joke, so do not try this or reciprocate this. I don't want to give ideas of violence I only want to share my joke, okay, good glad you all got this; I needed to state that disclaimer. So here is the transcript:

Robbie: I am quitting [college]

Robbie: I got mad at my teacher today

Ashley: yeah right

Robbie: well it might be kicked out

Ashley: why?

Robbie: I told the teacher where to shove it

Ashley: I doubt it will get you kicked out

Robbie: um well it was not nice

Robbie: I instigated a class riot almost

Ashley: did he deserve it and did the class agree with you?

Robbie: um little of both

Robbie: and I might have slightly punched him

Ashley: WHAT????

Robbie: yeah he called me stupid

Ashley: that's all and you hit him?

Robbie: he said my southern accent made me look and sound unintelligent

Robbie: he is a jerk

Robbie: why didn't you walk out?

Robbie: well he was spitting in my face while he was talking real loud

Robbie: got in my face and he pissed me off

Ashley: I still don't see why when you knew you were getting angry you didn't just walk out. What has the university said?

Robbie: um it is being investigated

Robbie: I had to give a statement to the police chief

Robbie: and if found at fault I break the non-aggression clause of the student guidelines and that stipulates immediate expulsion

Ashley: what did he do when you hit him?

Robbie: laid on the ground like a little baby

Ashley: what did your parents say? and is he pressing charges?

Robbie: not sure

Robbie: um my parents told me to get a lawyer and they are not helping me out

Robbie: I kind of got a cut off notice from them

Robbie: and if I get found at fault I am banned form [the college] jobs, [rest of line editted out for saefty reasons]

Ashley: oh my goodness

Robbie: yeah kind of sucks

Robbie: for you that is

Robbie: APRIL FOOLS

Ashley: I hate you

So there you go, my evil but yet humorous joke about a made up incident. Yeah even though they did not know I am glad my college helped out in my joke, good old school friend to the rescue. So have fun on April Fools everyone!

Sad finding

So I am sure a lot of my readers, oh yeah I have one reader, have seen the movie My Cousin Vinny, and everyone knows the scene where he orders grits and does not know what a grit is. Well of course he is in the General Putnam Motel and Restaurant in Eatonton during that scene. The sad finding is that they have shut down the General Putnam Restaurant! I kind of always wanted to try out the restaurant, but I was never there for the breakfast time. I think it is almost like shutting down the Whistle Stop Café. Well maybe not that bad, but it is a movie set restaurant, you would think it would be safe guarded, and people would want to eat there, but I guess not. Well maybe I will shed some light on the situation and some movie relic person will preserve the restaurant, then I might have a chance to eat grits there.

For those who read my blog and do not know what grits are check this out!

Why we are on the subject of grits, for all those who have never tried them, you do not know what you are missing. Please though, do not get instant grits for you first time, get the real stuff, I would suggest The Georgia Agrirama, they have great grits meal, made fresh from their water powered driven grits mill. I believe you can order grits from them.

Here is a recipe for everyone to try, if you have not already. It is a little know southern delicacy, it is called Breakfast in a Cup. If you think you know what breakfast in a cup is, keep reading, it might not be what you think. You take a cup, usually served in Styrofoam from restaurants, fill it 1/2 full with grits, 1/4 full with grits, 1/4 full with sausage, and then add butter. You can add other things like bacon if you like, but that makes a great morning breakfast. Yeah I totally grossed people out with that oh wait no one actually reads my blog, haha I almost forgot there for a second.
